NERI interim CEO – call for expressions of interest

You are probably aware that Paul Atkins, CEO of the National Energy Research Institute, will be moving on to a new role as CEO of Karori Wildlife Sanctuary.  Paul has carried out sterling work for NERI over the past 5 years and we wish him all the best in his new role.

The NERI Board are now seeking expressions of interest in the role of Interim Chief Executive for NERI.  This is a short term position to maintain NERI’s core activities and ensure delivery on contracted commitments over this period - see Job Description attached.  The start date is as soon as possible (ideally by mid November) with tenure until the appointment of a permanent CEO, likely to be in February 2016.  A call for interest in the permanent CEO role will be made early in the New Year.

This is a part time role of 15-20 hours per week, with 2 weeks of non-contracted time over Xmas and New Year.  The hourly rate will be negotiable but in the vicinity of $100 an hour. The role will be contracted via a services agreement, and the appointee will be expected to have their own office space and office equipment.

Person specifications –

-        A high level of competence in managing relationships, managing finances and project management.

-        Ideally, a good knowledge of the energy sector including key players in industry, government and the research community.

Expressions of interest should consist of a cover letter and CV, sent by email to janet.stephenson@otago.ac.nz

Closing date is 5pm, Thursday 5 November 2015.

Please forward this email to anyone you feel may be interested in this role.

 Regards

Janet Stephenson

Chair, NERI Board.
